PSARAKIS
Soprano
Greek-American soprano CATHERINE PSARAKIS performs worldwide with renowned orchestras and ensembles. While obtaining her Master of Music at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, she appeared as Cunegonde in Candide under the musical direction of Christopher Allen. She also portrayed Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute with Chicago Summer Opera. Ms. Psarakis's passion for contemporary music led her to take on the title role of Rohanna in Jacob Shulman's Opera Role Playing Game with the Boston New Music Society. Additionally, she coached with and performed songs by John Musto through the Songfest Program as a Professional Fellow in San Francisco, and sang the role of Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos with the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra.
This compelling artist made her oratorio debut Handel's Messiah with the Messiah Choral Society in Orlando, Florida, and went on to make her Carnegie Hall debut at Stern Auditorium as soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with the New York City Chamber Orchestra and Masterwork Festival Chorus. She also captivated audiences as soloist in Handel's Laudate Pueri Dominum and Bach’s Mass in B minor with the Bach Festival Vocal Artists in Winter Park, FL, as well as Mahler's Fourth Symphony in Los Angeles. Abroad in Berlin, Psarakis performed as soloist in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with Capella Kreuzberg.
Ms. Psarakis was recently awarded Third Prize in the Rochester International Vocal Competition, and is also the First Prize winner of the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition, "Grand Prize" winner in the Hennings Fischer Young Artist Competition in the opera category, and a finalist in the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Austria.
